Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §5106, sub-§11-D is enacted to read:

11-D.__Medical ride volunteer service.__Administer a grant program to provide medical ride volunteer services.__Grants must be made to local area agencies on aging to facilitate transportation of older persons on Medicare to medical appointments;

Sec. 2. Appropriation. The following funds are appropriated from the General Fund to carry out the purposes of this Act.

Provides funds for grants to local area agencies on aging to support the medical ride volunteer service that provides transportation to medical appointments for older citizens on Medicare.

SUMMARY

This bill establishes a grant program statutorily and provides a General Fund appropriation of $85,000 in fiscal year 2000-01 to the Department of Human Services for grants to local area agencies on aging to support the medical ride volunteer service that provides transportation to medical appointments for older citizens on Medicare.
