| | Sec. 1. Task force established. Resolved: That the Task Force to Study | Alternative Secondary Education and the Unique Needs of | Disenfranchised Students, referred to in this resolve as the | "task force," is established. |

| | 1. Membership. The task force consists of the following 7 | members: |
|
| A. Two members of the Senate, one of whom must be a member | of the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural | Affairs and one of whom must be a member of the Joint | Standing Committee on Criminal Justice, appointed by the | President of the Senate; |
|
| B. Two members of the House of Representatives, one of whom | must be a member of the Joint Standing Committee on | Education and Cultural Affairs and one of whom must be a | member of the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice, | appointed by the Speaker of the House; |
|
| C. A representative who is an educator in an alternative | school environment, appointed by the Speaker of the House of | Representatives; |
|
| D. A member of the public who is the parent of a child in | an alternative school environment, appointed by the | President of the Senate; and |
|
| E. The Commissioner of Education or the commissioner's | designee. |
|
| | 2. Chairs. The first named Senate member is the Senate chair | of the task force and the first named House of Representatives | member is the House chair of the task force. |
|
| | 3. Appointments; meetings. All appointments must be made no | later than 30 days following the effective date of this resolve. | The Executive Director of the Legislative Council must be | notified by all appointing authorities once the selections have | been made. When the appointment of all members has been | completed, the chairs of the task force shall call and convene | the first meeting of the task force no later than 10 days after | all members have been appointed. |

| | 4. Duties. The task force shall study alternative secondary | education. |
