| | Sec. 1. 25 MRSA c. 192 is enacted to read: |

| MAINE COMPUTER CRIMES TASK FORCE |
|
| §1521.__Maine Computer Crimes Task Force |
|
| | 1.__Maine Computer Crimes Task Force.__The Maine Computer | Crimes Task Force, referred to in this chapter as the "task | force," is established under the auspices of the Department of | Public Safety as a collaborative partnership among the | department, the Bureau of State Police within the department, the | Department of the Attorney General and local law enforcement | agencies.__The purpose of the task force is to investigate and | assist those law enforcement agencies in the State that | investigate crimes involving computers. |

| | 2.__Report.__Beginning July 1, 2002, the task force shall make | an annual report regarding development, implementation and | effectiveness of programs and initiatives to the joint standing | committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over criminal | justice matters. |
|
| | 3.__Repeal.__This chapter is repealed January 1, 2004. |
|
| | Sec. 2. Appropriation. The following funds are appropriated from | the General Fund to carry out the purposes of this Act. |
