| | | Sec. 1. 25 MRSA c. 192 is enacted to read: |

| | | MAINE COMPUTER CRIMES TASK FORCE |
|
| | | §1521.__Maine Computer Crimes Task Force |
|
| | | 1.__Maine Computer Crimes Task Force.__The Maine Computer | | Crimes Task Force, referred to in this chapter as the "task | | force," is established under the auspices of the Department of | | Public Safety as a collaborative partnership among the | | department, the Bureau of State Police within the department, the | | Department of the Attorney General and local law enforcement | | agencies.__The purpose of the task force is to investigate and | | assist those law enforcement agencies in the State that | | investigate crimes involving computers. |

| | | 2.__Report.__Beginning July 1, 2002, the task force shall make | | an annual report regarding development, implementation and | | effectiveness of programs and initiatives to the joint standing | | committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over criminal | | justice matters. |
|
| | | 3.__Repeal.__This chapter is repealed January 1, 2004. |

| | | Sec. 2. Appropriation. The following funds are appropriated from | | the General Fund to carry out the purposes of this Act. |
