| | | Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §2398 is enacted to read: |

| | | §2398.__Clearing off ice and snow on trucks |

| | | 1.__Ice and compacted snow on trucks.__An operator of a truck | | tractor, semi-trailer or full trailer on a public way shall clear | | accumulated ice and compacted snow from that vehicle to prevent | | personal injury or property damage. |

| | | 2.__Violation.__A violation of this section is a civil | | violation, punishable by a forfeiture of at least $200 and not to | | exceed $500. |

| | | This bill requires tractor-trailer drivers to keep their | | vehicles clear of ice and compacted snow. Failure to do so is a | | civil violation, punishable by a forfeiture of at least $200 and | | not to exceed $500. |
