| | | Sec. 1. 17-A MRSA §905-A, sub-§5, as enacted by PL 1999, c. 190, §3, | | is amended to read: |

| | | 5. Misuse of identification is a Class D crime, except when | | misusing a social security card or social security number, which | | is a Class C crime. |

| | | This bill increases the penalty for appropriating another | | person's social security number by making it a Class C crime. |
