Sec. 1. MaineCare reimbursement rates. By January 1, 2004, the Department of Human Services shall adopt rules to adjust the MaineCare reimbursement rates for health care providers to provide for an increase of 20% above the reimbursement rates in effect on January 1, 2003, except that the adjustment may not result in a reimbursement rate above 100% of the usual and customary rates in effect on January 1, 2003. Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine technical rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.

SUMMARY

This bill directs the Department of Human Services to adopt rules to raise reimbursement rates for health care professionals in the MaineCare program by 20% the rates in effect on January 1, 2003, subject to a cap at the usual and customary rates in effect on January 1, 2003.
