Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §2051, sub-§4 is enacted to read:

4.__Multilane highway.__On a highway with more than 2 lanes in the same direction, a commercial motor vehicle is restricted in ordinary operation to the right-hand lane and in overtaking and passing is restricted to the next adjacent travel lane and may not use any other lanes except in an emergency.__For purposes of this section, "commercial motor vehicle" means a vehicle in excess of 2 1/2 tons used for transportation of goods, wares and merchandise.

SUMMARY

This bill prohibits a commercial motor vehicle from travelling in the far left lane on a multilane highway.
