Whereas, to ensure the appointment of an additional member to the Board of Dental Examiners, it is necessary that this Act take effect immediately; and

Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and require the following legislation as immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 32 MRSA §1071, first ¶, as amended by PL 2001, c. 260, Pt. B, §1, is further amended to read:

The Board of Dental Examiners, established by Title 5, section 12004-A, subsection 10, and in this chapter called the "board," consists of 8 9 members, appointed by the Governor as follows: five six members of the dental profession, one dental hygienist, one denturist and one representative of the public.

Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble, this Act takes effect when approved.

SUMMARY

This bill increases the number of members of the Board of Dental Examiners from 8 to 9 by adding a 6th member of the dental profession.
