Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §923, as enacted by PL 1987, c. 737, Pt. A, §2 and Pt. C, §106 and amended by PL 1989, c. 6; c. 9, §2; and c. 104, Pt. C, §§8 and 10, is further amended to read:

§923. Capital expenditure accounts to carry over

Any unexpended balance of capital expenditures shall may not lapse but shall must be carried forward into the next year or until the purpose for which that account was established has been completed, except that county commissioners may vote by a simple majority to allow the funds in a capital expenditure account to lapse.

SUMMARY

This bill clarifies that county commissioners may by a simple majority vote to allow the unexpended balance of any capital expenditure account to lapse.
