Sec. 1. 38 MRSA §1107 is enacted to read:

§1107. Opportunity for public comment

The board of trustees of a sanitary district may not vote to make any change to the district's public services, fees, rates or facility plans unless, prior to the vote, members of the public attending a public meeting of the board are allowed an opportunity to comment on the proposed change.

SUMMARY

This bill requires that the public be allowed an opportunity to comment on any change to a sanitary district's public services, fees, rates or facility plans prior to the board of trustee's final vote on the change.
