| Sec. 1. Examination of cost savings resulting from early retirement. Resolved: That |
| the Commissioner of Administrative and Financial Services, |
| with the participation and assistance of the Maine State |
| Retirement System, shall conduct a thorough examination of the |
| potential cost savings that might result from offering state |
| employees the option of an early retirement. The commissioner |
| shall compile the results of the review and shall present the |
| findings, along with any necessary implementing language, to |
| the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial |
| Affairs no later than November 15, 2003. Following receipt |
| and review of the report, the joint standing committee may |
| report out legislation related to the report to the Second |
| Regular Session of the 121st Legislature. |
