| | | Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §6355, sub-§4 is enacted to read: |

| | | 4.__Choice of parent with regard to chicken pox.__A child | | does not have to be immunized against chicken pox if the | | parent states in writing the choice not to immunize the child | | against chicken pox, also known as varicella. |

| | | This bill allows a parent to choose not to immunize a child | | against chicken pox. Immunization against chicken pox is a | | requirement for enrollment in elementary and secondary school | | in the State effective for the start of school year 2003. |
