| Sec. 1. "Katahdin Trail" designated. The following described highway |
is highways are hereby designated as the "Mt. Katahdin Trail": |
Beginning in Newport at the junction of Route U.S. 2 and Route |
7, extending to Dover-Foxcroft over Route 7; thence to Milo by |
Route 16, to Millinocket by Route 11 and the Brownville- |
Millinocket road, so called; thence to Baxter State Park over |
the "Baxter State Park Road." Medway at the junction of |
Interstate 95 and Route 157, extending to Millinocket over |
Route 157; thence to Baxter State Park over the road commonly |
referred to as "Baxter State Park Road" to the Togue Pond |
Gate; thence over the road commonly referred to as "Perimeter |
Road," bordering Baxter State Park to the Matagamon Gate at |
the North Entrance of Baxter State Park; thence over the Grand |
Lake Road to Route 159 to Route 11 in Patten; thence over |
Route 11 to the junction of Route 11 and Route 157 in Medway. |
Signs designating this as the "Mt. Katahdin Trail" shall may |
be erected by the State Highway Commission at proper intervals |
along the highway in accordance with the Maine Revised |
Statutes, Title 23, sections 1901 to 1925. |
