| | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | | Sec. 1. 10 MRSA §1313-B, sub-§1-A is enacted to read: |

| | | 1-A.__Multiple social security numbers excluded from | | consumer reports.__A consumer reporting agency may not make a | | consumer report relating to a consumer that contains more than | | one social security number for that consumer. |

| | | Sec. 2. 10 MRSA §1315, sub-§1, ¶D is enacted to read: |
|
| | | D.__The procedures adopted by the consumer reporting | | agency pursuant to section 1317 to enable a consumer to | | correct any inaccurate information contained in that | | consumer's consumer report. |
|
| | | This bill prohibits consumer reporting agencies from using | | more than one social security number for a consumer on a | | credit report. The bill also requires that consumer reporting | | agencies clearly disclose to consumers their procedures to | | enable a consumer to correct inaccurate information contained | | in a credit report. |
