Sec. 1. 28-A MRSA §14 is enacted to read:

§14.__Hard cider sold by malt liquor licensees

Notwithstanding any other provision of this Title, a person licensed to sell malt liquor for consumption on or off premises may also sell hard cider.__All provisions of this Title applicable to malt liquor apply to hard cider when hard cider is sold by persons licensed to sell malt liquor for consumption on or off premises.

SUMMARY

This bill clarifies that hard cider may be sold by malt liquor licensees. Currently, hard cider is sold by licensees with a wine license and hard cider is taxed under a malt liquor product category.
