| This bill proposes to require the State to assume all costs |
| for corrections that are currently borne by the counties. |
| Under this bill, the State would bear the costs of county jail |
| operations and inmates, as well as the costs associated with |
| state detainees who are housed in county jails. Economies of |
| scale would be realized, which may have the result of |
| achieving cost savings in certain areas. |
