Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §4105 is enacted to read:

§4105.__Building rehabilitation code; incentives

A municipality that adopts the most recent version of the building rehabilitation code that has been prepared by the International Code Council, the Building Officials and Code Administrators International or the National Fire Protection Association must be given preference for economic development grants administered by the Department of Economic and Community Development.__The Department of Economic and Community Development, in coordination with the State Planning Office, shall adopt rules to implement this section.__Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine technical rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.

SUMMARY

This bill provides that a municipality that adopts the rehabilitation component of a nationally recognized building code must be given preference for economic development grants administered by the Department of Economic and Community Development.
