| | | Sec. 1. 10 MRSA §1272-B is enacted to read: |

| | | §1272-B.__Refusal to provide social security number |

| | | Except as otherwise provided in law, a person, corporation | | or other entity may not deny goods or services to an | | individual because the individual refuses to provide a social | | security number. |

| | | This bill prohibits the denial of goods or services to an | | individual because the individual refuses to provide a social | | security number. The bill does not prevent collection of | | social security numbers when provided for in current law. |
