RENT ASSISTANCE

§4994-A.__Security deposit assistance

The Maine State Housing Authority shall guarantee payment of the security deposit for a person who qualifies and receives rent assistance from the Federal Government if the person is capable of paying the security deposit to the landlord in monthly installments over a period of one year.__The authority shall adopt rules to carry out the provisions of this section.__ Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine technical rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.

SUMMARY

This bill authorizes the Maine State Housing Authority to guarantee the security deposit of a person who qualifies and receives rent assistance from the Federal Government as long as that person is capable of paying the security deposit to the landlord in monthly installments over a one-year period.
