| | | Sec. 1. Study required. Resolved: That the Department of | | Transportation shall conduct a study of the benefits, | | feasibility and cost of constructing a network of off-road | | bike and walking paths along the commuting corridors with the | | highest volume of traffic in the State. This study must | | address the following: |
| | | 1. Identify and map out the routes on which the greatest | | number of state residents commute to work each day; |
| | | 2. Identify the routing possibilities and obstacles to | | constructing off-road bike paths that could be used for | | alternative means of transportation to work; |
| | | 3. Estimate the number of persons likely to use such trails | | for commuting, fitness or recreational purposes; and |
| | | 4. Estimate the cost of constructing such a trail network. |
| | | The Department of Transportation shall submit a report on | | the results of this study to the Joint Standing Committee on | | Transportation on or before January 15, 2004. |
