Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §3013 is enacted to read:

§3013.__Engine brakes

A municipality may enact an ordinance pursuant to section 3001 that prohibits the use of engine brakes by a motor vehicle within the municipality.__The ordinance may prohibit the use of engine brakes for the entire municipality or within a certain area of the municipality.__For purposes of this section, "engine brakes" includes dynamic brakes, engine compression brakes and engine retarders.

SUMMARY

This bill allows a municipality to enact an ordinance that prohibits the use of engine brakes within the entire municipality or a certain area of the municipality.
