| | | Sec. 2. 32 MRSA c. 135 is enacted to read: |

| | | MAINE HOME CONTRACTOR LICENSING ACT |
|
| | | This chapter may be known and cited as "the Maine Home | | Contractor Licensing Act." |
|
| | | 1.__Applicant.__"Applicant" means a person who applies for a | | home contractor's license or a home contractor salesperson. |
|
| | | 2.__Board.__"Board" means the Maine Home Contractor Licensing | | Board as established in this chapter. |
|
| | | 3.__Commissioner.__"Commissioner" means the Commissioner of | | Professional and Financial Regulation. |
|
| | | 4.__Contract.__"Contract" means an agreement between an owner | | and a home contractor or a home contractor salesperson to build a | | dwelling or perform any home improvements. |
|
| | | 5.__Department.__"Department" means the Department of | | Professional and Financial Regulation. |
|
| | | 6.__Dwelling.__"Dwelling" means any building that contains one | | or 2 dwelling units. |
|
| | | 7.__Dwelling unit.__"Dwelling unit" means a single unit | | providing complete independent living facilities for one or more | | persons, including permanent provisions for living, sleeping, | | eating, cooking and sanitation. |
|
| | | 8.__Employee.__"Employee" has the same meaning as provided in | | Title 26, section 591, subsection 1. |
