Sec. 2. Scope of recodification. Resolved: That, in preparing the proposed recodification, the Office of Policy and Legal Analysis and the Office of the Revisor of Statutes shall reorganize the laws contained in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 9, chapter 385; Title 10, chapters 901 and 951; and Title 32, eliminate archaic terms and confusing language wherever possible, update cross- references and make other technical changes necessary to improve the readability and accessibility of those laws. The recodification is not intended to contain substantive changes to the professional and occupational licensing laws; and be it further

Sec. 3. Participation of department. Resolved: That the Office of Policy and Legal Analysis and the Office of the Revisor of Statutes shall invite the participation of the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation in preparing the proposed recodification; and be it further

Sec. 4. Report. Resolved: That the Office of Policy and Legal Analysis and the Office of the Revisor of Statutes shall submit the proposed recodification to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over professional and occupational licensing matters no later than December 1, 2004.

SUMMARY

This resolve requires the Office of Policy and Legal Analysis and the Office of the Revisor of Statutes to jointly prepare a bill that recodifies the Charitable Solicitations Act, the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, the manufactured housing laws and all of the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 32. The Department of Professional and Financial Regulation is allowed to participate in the recodification.
