| | | Sec. 1. P&SL 1991, c. 26, §4, last sentence, as amended by PL 1997, c. 696, | | §6, is further amended to read: |

| | | School administrative units shall submit requests for upgrades | under this section to the Department of Education before July 1, | 1999 |

| | | Sec. 2. Retroactivity. This Act applies retroactively to June 30, | | 1998. |

| | | The purpose of this bill is to extend the time by which school | | units may request upgrades to higher classifications for | | educational technicians employed before September 1, 1991 who are | | otherwise eligible for upgrade under the provision of law enacted | | by Private and Special Law 1995, chapter 35. |
