This
bill will require DNA testing of certain juveniles. If the tests could be done as saliva tests (cheek swab) the
cost would be minimal and absorbed by the Department of Corrections. Current law requires that DNA tests must
be implemented by blood draw at a cost of approximately $38 per test. Therefore, General Fund appropriations
will be required to fund the testing of approximately 495 youths annually. |
