| This bill establishes additional statutory duties for the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to assist in cleaning boats entering the state. The anticipated cost to develop mobile and permanent washing equipment stations is expected to be significant and will vary depending on the machinery and vehicles required. Since it is unknown how many inspection stations are required or the amount of staffing needed, the exact cost of this legislation can not be determined at this time. Also, since the departments are directed to use proceeds of the Invasive Aquatic Plant and Nuisance Species Fund before funds are expended on other elements of the program, there may be a significant impact on those elements. | |||||||
