Fiscal Detail and Notes
This bill requires certain vehicle to pay the gasoline tax rather than the special fuel tax.  This change will result in a net loss of Highway Fund revenue estimated to be $17,999 in fiscal year 2003-04 and $42,439 in fiscal year 2004-05.  General Fund revenue is expected to increase by minor amounts beginning in the 2006-2007 biennium.  Maine Revenue Services will also require a one-time General Fund appropriation of $18,000 in fiscal year 2003-04 for the administrative costs associated with this change.
