This
bill creates the Interstate Compact for Juveniles, concerning juveniles who
are on probation or parole. It is
estimated that the Department of Corrections will incur costs of
approximately $12,000 annually for association dues. Costs associated with the transportation
of the Department of Corrections staff to required meetings is unknown at
this time. Also, there is a provision
in the compact that includes one legislator as a member of the Interstate
Compact for Juveniles. The cost of
the per diem and expenses for one legislative member for one meeting is
estimated to be $105. The compact
becomes effective and binding upon enactment by no fewer than 35 of the
states. It can not be determined when
this will occur. The cost will
depend on when the compact becomes effective and the number of times the
commission will meet to conduct its business. |
