The
Office of the Attorney General currently represents the Department of
Education and the State Board of Education, which could be defendents in the
cases addressed by this legislation.
Because of potential conflicts of interest between the state and local
government defendents, the Office of the Attorney General suggests that it
should not provide legal counsel to the school administrative unit, school
board, school committee or superintendent.
In order to provide legal counsel without cost to the above parties, a
General Fund appropriation for outside counsel would be required. |
