Fiscal Detail and Notes
This bill requires General Fund appropriations to the Department of the Attorney General in the amount of $ 210,201 in fiscal year 2004-05, $215,456 in fiscal year 2005-06 and $220,842 in fiscal year 2006-07.  These appropriations will provide funds for an Assistant Attorney General position, two Research Assistant positions and general operating expenses to assist in the regulation of telemarketing and E-Mail solicitation.  In addition, the bill will result in the collection of dedicated revenue by the Department of the Attorney General from charging $3 every three years to be on the list and up to $75 dollars to buy access to the list.  There are already 75,000 Maine people on the free no-call list maintained by the feds.  Violations may result in penalties that would accrue to the Department of the Attorney General of up to $3,000 each.  The amount of dedicated revenue can not be determined at this time.
