The
Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Inland Fisheries
and Wildlife will use existing budgeted resources of the Lake and River
Protection Fund established pursuant to 12 MRSA section 13058 to establish a
monitoring program of Maine lakes identified as having invasive aquatic
species. Since the bill limits the level of funding within the Lake and River
Protection Fund to no more than 20% of the total annual revenues collected,
it is anticipated that funding to implement this program will not exceed
approximately $228,000 annually. |
