There
is the potential for a significant increase in costs to the Department of
Human Services resulting from the expanded authority to continue care and
support for state wards up to the age of 23.
The additional cost will depend on the number of such wards the
department agrees to continue to provide care and support for, and can not be
estimated at this time. |

|
Requiring
the Legislature to provide funding for the total expenses of the Legislative
Youth Advisory Council beginning July 1, 2005 will require General Fund
appropriations to the Legislature of $10,100 annually beginning in fiscal
year 2005-06. |

|
|
|
|
Additional
costs to the Department of Education, the Department of Behaviorial and
Developmental Services, and the Office of the Secretary of State to
participate in the required studies and to prepare the required reports can
be absorbed utilizing existing budgeted resources. |

|
|
|
|
|
Additional
costs to the University of Maine System, the Maine Community College System,
and the Maine Maritime Academy can be absorbed utilizing existing budgeted
resources. |
