Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §3762, sub-§9, ¶D is enacted to read:

D.__The department shall establish eligibility criteria for persons who have established residency in this State within the previous month that coordinate benefits with the TANF program in the state of prior residency.__For persons in this State who received or applied for TANF benefits in another state immediately prior to establishing residence in this State, the criteria must provide for coordination of TANF benefits with the state of prior residency and continuation of any TANF participation requirement or period of ineligibility imposed as a result of program requirements for the state of prior residency.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to coordinate benefits under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program with other states for persons who have recently established residency in Maine.
