Sec. 1. 17-A MRSA §610 is enacted to read:

§610.__Illegal personal benefit

A person is guilty of illegal personal benefit if, being a public servant, that person derives personal benefit or gain from arranging or participating in a private business transaction that uses information derived from the public office in which that person serves.__Illegal personal benefit is a Class E crime.

SUMMARY

This bill designates as a Class E crime the use of public office information for personal benefit by a public servant.
