| | | Emergency preamble. Whereas, acts of the Legislature do not become | | effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as | | emergencies; and |

| | | Whereas, many municipalities post weight restrictions on roads | | during the spring months; and |
|
| | | Whereas, spring is an important season for agricultural | | operations during which many supplies are delivered for the | | upcoming growing season; and |
|
| | | Whereas, many agricultural operations will be disadvantaged this | | spring if their suppliers are not exempted from municipal road | | postings; and |
|
| | | Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create | | an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and | | require the following legislation as immediately necessary for | | the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, | | therefore, |

| | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | | Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §2395, sub-§9 is enacted to read: |
|
| | | 9.__Agricultural products.__A vehicle delivering supplies or | | products necessary for an agricultural operation is exempt from | | the provisions of this section. |
|
| | | Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble, | | this Act takes effect when approved. |
|
| | | This bill exempts vehicles delivering supplies or products | | necessary for an agricultural operation from restrictions placed | | on roads concerning weight, speed, operation and equipment during | | certain periods of the year. |
