| | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | | Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §12602, sub-§§1 and 2, as enacted by PL 2003, c. 414, | | Pt. A, §2 and affected by c. 614, §9, are amended to read: |

| | | 1. Fish in violation of certain rules. Fish in violation of | | the number, amount, weight or minimum size limits established by | | rules adopted by the commissioner; or |
|
| | | 2. Possess fish in violation of certain rules. Possess fish | | in violation of the number, amount, weight or minimum size limits | | established by rules adopted by the commissioner. |

| | | Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §12612 is enacted to read: |

| | | The department may not set a slot limit requirement on the | | length of fish caught on a body of water that has a 2-fish limit | | but may set a minimum length requirement. |
|
| | | This bill prohibits the Department of Inland Fisheries and | | Wildlife from setting a slot limit length requirement for fish | | caught on a body of water that has a 2-fish limit. The bill also | | authorizes the department to set a minimum length on any fish. |
