Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2404 is enacted to read:

§2404.__Report to Legislature

Prior to adopting a rule or proposing legislation that enacts or affects a building code administered by the State Fire Marshal, the Commissioner of Public Safety shall report to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over life safety and building code matters on the costs and benefits of adopting the rule or enacting the legislation.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Commissioner of Public Safety to report to the Legislature on the costs and benefits of any proposed rule or legislation that affects or enacts a building code administered by the State Fire Marshal.
