Sec. 1. 10 MRSA §8001, sub-§38, ¶H-2 is enacted to read:

H-2.__Board of Dental Examiners;

Sec. 2. 10 MRSA §8001-A, sub-§3, as enacted by PL 1989, c. 450, §5, is repealed.

Sec. 3. 32 MRSA §1071, first ¶, as amended by PL 2003, c. 669, §1, is further amended to read:

The Board of Dental Examiners, established by Title 5, section 12004-A, subsection 10, and in this chapter called the "board," consists of 9 members, appointed by the Governor as follows: five four members of the dental profession, 2 dental hygienists, one denturist and one representative 2 representatives of the public.

SUMMARY

This bill eliminates the affiliated status of the Board of Dental Examiners and makes it part of the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, Office of Licensing and Registration.

This bill also eliminates one dentist member position from the Board of Dental Examiners and adds an additional public member position to the Board of Dental Examiners.
