Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §6173, sub-§3 is enacted to read:

 
3.__Exemption.__This section does not apply to fisheries with
fewer than 20 employees.

 
SUMMARY

 
Current law allows the Department of Marine Resources to
collect statistical data from fisheries regarding the type and
quantity of fishing gear used, catch by species in numbers of
fish or weight and areas in which fishing was conducted. A
fishery that fails to provide the information required may have
the renewal of its license withheld until it complies.

 
This bill exempts fisheries with fewer than 20 employees from
the requirement to provide this information.
