appointed by the President of the Senate and one member of the
House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House.
The members must select a chair from among the membership. The
board has the same responsibilities that the Maine Indian Tribal-
State Commission was assigned under the Act to Implement the Maine
Indian Claims Settlement. The legislative members will not
participate in rule-making functions of the board.

 
This bill does not take effect until approved by the
Passamaquoddy Tribe, the Penobscot Nation and the Houlton Band of
Maliseet Indians.
