| | | Sec. 1. 17-A MRSA §1252, sub-§2-B is enacted to read: |

| | | 2-B.__In a case in which the State pleads and proves that a | | person has committed a crime under chapter 11 or 12, the court, | | in addition to any other orders it determines appropriate, shall | | order that a presentence investigation be conducted by the | | Department of Corrections prior to imposing sentence.__The | | presentence investigation must include results from risk | | assessment tools identified and applied by the Department of | | Corrections. |

| | | This bill requires that every person who is convicted of a sex | | offense under the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 17-A, chapter 11 | | or 12, undergo a presentence investigation conducted by the | | Department of Corrections prior to the court's imposing a | | sentence. |
