Sec. 1. 35-A MRSA §3215, sub-§3 is enacted to read:

3.__Withdrawal from independent system operator.__If the commission finds that the interests of Maine electricity consumers cannot otherwise be adequately protected, the commission may, as permitted by law, require transmission and distribution utilities within its jurisdiction to withdraw from participation in the system of any independent system operator.

SUMMARY

This bill provides that if the Public Utilities Commission finds that the interests of Maine electricity consumers cannot otherwise be adequately protected, the commission may, as permitted by law, require transmission and distribution utilities within its jurisdiction to withdraw from participation in the system of any independent system operator.
