Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §2398 is enacted to read:

§2398.__License verification

A company that has its main office or headquarters in this State shall obtain from an independent contractor that has a commercial license verification of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record before the company hires the independent contractor to transport the company's merchandise on the State's highways.
