This
legislation includes General Fund appropriations to the Department of
Corrections in the amounts of $24,800,000 in fiscal year 2005-06 and
$17,565,000 in fiscal year 2006-07 for the design and construction of a
medium/minimum security correctonal facility to handle additional inmates,
for paying the increased operational costs of shifting 143 prsioners to the
state from county jails and for increased reimbursments to counties. The county savings will be $4,587,000
annually from the shift of 143 prisoners and $12,800,000 annually from
increased reimbursements from the County Jail Prisoner Support and Community
Corrections Fund administered by the Department of Corrections. |
