Authorizing
an appeals process for the denial of a concealed weapons permit will increase
General Fund costs for the State Police program within the Department of
Public Safety and increase the amount of revenues collected by the department
for the General Fund. The department
estimates a cost of approximately $500 for each appeal that is reviewed; the
bill establishes a fee of $25 for each appeal that is filed. The ultimate cost and revenue impact of
this bill will depend on the number of appeals that are filed each year; the
amounts can not be determined at this time.
