| The Secretary of State's budget includes sufficient funds to accommodate one ballot of average length for the general election in November. If the number or size of the referendum questions increases the ballot length, an additional appropriation of $8,000 or more may be required. | |||||||||

| If approved by the voters and assuming redistricting can be accomplished in time for the elections in November of 2006, reducing the size of the Legislature by 2 senators and 52 representatives will result in cost savings to the legislative budget in the amount of $2,039,005 in fiscal year 2006-07, $1,807,991 in fiscal year 2007-08 and $2,267,907 in fiscal year 2008-09. The Legislature would require a General Fund appropriation of $400,000 in fiscal year 2005-06 to conduct the required redistricting. | |||||||||
