The
Public Utilities Commission will absorb the additional costs associated with
adopting by rule an energy efficiency building code as required by this
legislation. The Department of
Administrative and Financial Services has indicated that the Bureau of
General Services has currently adopted the American Society of Heating,
Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers ( ASHRAE) building code plus
20%. To adopt this standard, the
Bureau of General Services has expended $60,000 in engineering assistance and
anticipates spending another $40,000 in training. Raising the standard above the ASHRAE plus 20% will result in
additional building and renovations cost to the state in an amount that can
not be determined at this time. |
