The Secretary of
State's budget includes sufficient funds to accommodate one ballot of average
length for the general election in November. If the number or size of the
referendum questions increases the ballot length, an additional appropriation
of $8,000 or more may be required. A
special election would require an additional appropriation of $121,392. |

The
review of certain financial reports would require one additional half-time
Corporate/Elections Agent position within the Department of the Secretary of
State at a General Fund cost of $18,267 and $25,156 in fiscal years 2005-06
and 2006-07, respectively. The
additional costs associated with the Revisor of Statutes assisting the
Secretary of State with drafting a proposed ballot question summary and
posting the summary on the internet can be absorbed by the Legislature
utilizing existing budgeted resources. |
