The Secretary of
State's budget includes sufficient funds to accommodate one ballot of average
length for the general election in November. If the number or size of the
referendum questions increases the ballot length, an additional appropriation
of $8,000 or more may be required. A
special election would require an additional appropriation of $121,392. |

This
amendment deletes a General Fund appropriation of $1,000,000 in fiscal year
2005-06 to the Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management for
the establishment of the Homeland
Security Relief Fund. The department
has existing Other Special Revenue Funds allocations to allow spending from
the Disaster Relief Fund. The revenue
that will be collected for the fund will depend on the department's success
in soliciting funds for this purpose; the amounts can not be determined at
this time. In addition, the amendment
deletes the provision that, contingent on availability, would have transferred
funds from the General Fund to the new fund at the end of each fiscal year
until a total of $5,000,000 had been attained. |
