An Act To Amend the Maine Tort Claims Act

Sec. 1. 14 MRSA §8119  is enacted to read:

§ 8119.  Liability on school grounds

While preserving immunity pursuant to section 8116, a school administrative unit shall require each school facility within the school administrative unit's jurisdiction to be insured to cover a student who is injured on a playground when the injury occurs during normal school hours when students are allowed on the playground and when staff is required to be present.
